There is now (12/24/2000) a generic WinOS2 driver that should work with any sound card. Wave In, Wave Out, and MIDI playback are all working, and MIDI In support is being worked on. An older (12/9/98) version based on the same IBM DDK code can be found at Hobbes.
XOSL is a nice-looking, free boot manager. It is released with the source under the GPL, and reportedly works well with OS/2. Version 1.1.5 has been released (12/23/2000).
Fixpak 2 for IBM's VisualAge C++ 3.6.5 is now (12/21/2000) available. Fixpak 1 for version 4.0 is also available (3/29/99). Note that it's very large, but only the first file is really needed. The second one contains updates to samples and some other non-essential parts of the package.

Program Commander/2 version 2.20 has been released (12/1/2000). PC/2 is a WPS enhancement / replacement that allows you to manage your applications and Desktop more easily. From a configurable Popup Menu you can not only launch programs, but also specify details like their size&position on a Virtual Desktop, the Hotkey used to switch to or start them, their Priority, their Environent (or DOS Settings for DOS applications) or when they should be invoked by a Scheduler. Platon Fomichev reports there is a package called win32inst on Hobbes (11/8/2000), which contains a 32-bit installer for Win32 programs. This can help install Win32 programs that come with a 16-bit installer, using Odin.
Retrocade alpha 6 is now (11/7/2000) available. Retrocade is a multi-arcade game emulator, similar to MAME. It supports fewer games than MAME does (about 120 or so) but the emulation cores were designed for speed, and it has a nice GUI. It now features full screen graphics using MGL.
Frank Berke reports that Crown of Might version 1.06 has been released (11/5/2000). This is a strategy game like the classic "Defender of the crown". There is now a full version available that allows you to raid castles, hold tournaments, rescue maidens, and more.
Emacs version 20.6 has been ported (11/4/2000) to OS/2. It now has clipboard support. This is the venerable Unix text editor, that has numerous other functions built in.
xBaseJ, an xBase database engine written entirely in Java, has been updated (11/3/2000) to version 1.9.A.

Templeton 3.80 has been released (10/29/2000). It contains a powerful World Wide Web mirroring and mapping tool, and a very configurable HTML syntax checker. Using Templeton, you can bring remote web pages to your local hard drive for fast, convenient, reliable, off-line use. Mirrored HTML documents include working links, images, and sounds. Templeton is very configurable; it can generate web site maps, mailing lists, server lists, and much more. Wayne Swanson has updated (5/16/2000) DeskTop Backup. This is a simple tool that works with InfoZip's Zip and Unzipsfx to build a self-extracting zipfile containing your essential desktop and other configuration information. Saving several distinctive backup setups to be performed on demand or automatically is easily handled by DTB. "AutoStart" backups are simple point and click setups that update your situation automatically with just a mouse click. You can also save multiple archive setups and recall them at will as well as setting the scheduler to run automatically at startup to archive by "days between archives" or "day of the week".
SecureDesktop version 1.04 has been released (5/14/2000). SecureDesktop is a security system that allows serial multiuser Desktops on one machine. Each Desktop is protected by UserID and password. Each user has also his own home-directory. The future plans are: file access controls; distributed WPS; trusted applications; modules for administering database (msql), StarOffice, Communicator 4.61, NS 2.02, etc. from SecureDesktop; and full WPS integration. Wayne Swanson has updated (4/6/2000) BgMetrics, a native OS/2 solution to track Blood Glucose readings and dietary info for diabetics. The first game using Scitech's MGL, 4D Tic-Tac-Toe, has been updated (4/4/2000) to version 1.1. If this works well, more things will be ported to MGL, including Retrocade.

A Java clone of Bomberman called bOmb! has been created. I've made an OS/2 archive that has an install script and icon, and was compiled on OS/2. Although text is French, I think you can figure out how to play (I did).
Ellie build 03r3 has been released (3/5/2000). Ellie is a 32 bit, multi-threaded, SETI@Home monitor for the OS/2 seti@home client. Craig Ballantyne has ported the 3Dfx Voodoo1 Glide2 driver version 2.46 and Voodoo 2 Glide2 version 2.53 to OS/2. Included in the port is the driver, test programs, and a demonstration application (donut). Eventually, this will be compatible with Odin, so that you can run OpenGL Windows games, like Quake2.

ServerConfig/2 version 1.9 has been released (1/26/2000). It is a PM configuration util for Apache, InetPowerServer/2, and the IBM TCP/IP Firewall. It also allows you to remote configure any unix/linux Apache. It includes a daemon that can be compiled under any gcc and thus allows ServerConfig/2 to receive and save configurations remotely, all from OS/2.

The WorkPlace Shell TrashCan has been updated (1/11/2000) to version 2.71. TrashCan is a replacement for the Shredder object. It brings a Macintosh-like trash can to your desktop, enabling you to recover trashed objects.
I have created (1/11/2000) an OS/2 archive of JNapster version 0.6. Napster offers access to MP3 files from users worldwide. It contains binaries compiled on OS/2, as well as an installation script to put an icon on the desktop. It requires Java 1.1.8 and Swing.
There is now a package available (1/8/2000) that allows application of the later FixPaks (41/42) to OS/2 3.0 clients.
A developer release of Enlightenment 0.16.4 has been released (1/6/2000) for XFree86/OS2. This is part of the GNOME/2 project. Also available (4/12/99) is a port of Enlightenment 0.15.5. Enlightenment is one of the nicest looking window managers for XFree86.
The Diamond Rio MP3 Player utility version 1.07 has been ported (1/6/2000) to OS/2. It allows you to upload / download MP3s to / from your Diamond Rio MP3 player.
