WaveCut beta 10 has been released. This is a wave player and cutter with rsj support, integration with normalize, and fast cutting with copywave. The documentation is currently only in German, but the program should be self-explanatory.


NetGamePack version 1.0 alpha has been released. This is a free, general network based game client, targeted to ease the development of network games. Right now, it contains the server, the client, and two sample applications (Chat and BattleShips). Full source code is available. BattleShips is skinnable, and the best skin uploaded to ftp://bships:skins@os2.rulez.org will be selected as the default skin of BattleShips in a new version. Thanks to stom for the news.


Turbo Copy version 0.994 RC1 has been released (12/15/2002). This is a free PM Diskette Copy Tool with many options, currently only available in German.


SETIView/2 version 1.0.0 has been released (12/13/2002). This is a SETI@Home process monitor for OS/2. Also available is SETIView/2 Cache version 0.1.7, which is a SETI@Home work unit caching program with many features. Thanks to David Forrester for the news.


An OS/2 port of Licq 1.2.0a has been released (12/13/2002) for XFree86/OS2 4.2.x. Licq is a GUI ICQ client. Thanks to Stauff for the news.


A class list maintenance utility version 0.1 beta has been released. This allows you to view a list of object classes, remove dead entries, and backup and restore the class list. Thanks to Klaus Staedtler for the news.


PMNapster version 3.6.4, a native OS/2 Napster clone, has been released (11/29/2002). The latest version is on Hobbes.


GNAT 3.15 has been ported (11/24/2002) to OS/2. GNAT is the free GNU Ada 95 Translator and extends the gcc compiler so you can use it to compile programs written in Ada 95.


LeanEdit version 1.87 has been released (11/14/2002). This is a platform independent XML editor written in Java. It is written extremely modular and can be extended at runtime. Thanks to Klaus Staedtler for the news.


MouseSmart version 1.2 has been released (11/8/2002). This allows you to control the acceleration of the mouse cursor.

An unofficial Fix Kit #1 for Stardock's Process Commander has been released (11/1/2002).


PM-CRC32 version 2.0 has been released (11/1/2002). This is a SFV CRC checker, used for checking if downloaded files have transferred correctly, and is primarily for RAR files, since those don't have checksums. Thanks to Thomas Wanek for the news.


The source code for more OS/2 programs have been released: Bingo/2 - allows you to play many different types of bingo games, Gomoku - a five-in-a-row game, DiskUse - displays your drive usage in a graphical manner, and TimeTrac - allows you to track the time you spend on different activities. An OS/2 port of the game Quake 2 has been released (10/14/2002). You need the data files from the Linux or Windows version of the game, either the full version or the demo.


MozCalc version 0.4.5 has been released (10/13/2002). mozCalc is a desktop calculator for Mozilla-based applications, including Warpzilla.


The source code for two more OS/2 games has been released (10/11/2002), Kniffel - a Yahtzee game, and Bastisoft Tetris - a Tetris game. Thanks to Martin Iturbide for the news.


USBScan.Sys version 0.3 has been released (10/1/2002). This is a driver that has recognition codes for several USB scanners. Unfortunately, it does not provide TWAIN support, so there currently no applications that can use this. Thanks to David Del Col for the news.


StHWMon version 0.18B has been updated (9/29/2002). It is a temperature / fan / voltage monitor for motherboards with the VIA_82C686 chip. It can shut down OS/2 and do an APM power off if a failure occurs.


Some helper scripts for encoding and decoding MP3 and Ogg-Vorbis files have been released (9/25/2002) as version 0.1 beta. This REXX script collection is intended to support the WPS integration of the lame mp3 encoder, and the Ogg-Vorbis tools. Thanks to Klaus Staedtler for the news.


Inet.Mail version 2.0.9 has been released (9/22/2002). This is a full featured SMTP/POP3 server, which features a Java Manager interface, supports multiple mail domains with a single server, and multiple virtual domains on a single IP address. The Digital Camera Image Transfer Utility (DCITU) is now (9/20/2002) on version 1.8j, and is released as open source. This utility supports cameras from Kodak, Agfa, Epson, Olympus, Sanyo, Sierra, Nikon, Minolta, and Toshiba. You can find more information on the author's web page. Tonigy version 1.7 has been released (9/19/2002). Tonigy is an IFS that maps tracks of CD-I, VideoCD and Audio CD into WAV and MPG files. Use it to access tracks like ordinary files. Thanks to Klaus for the news.


Inifix version 1.0 has been released. This is a pair of VIO utilities which clean up the OS/2 system INI files. These remove annoying extra items from objects' Create Another menus, and cleanup the Startup folders. Thanks to Klaus Staedtler for the news.

WebAlizer version 2.01-10 has been released (9/1/2002). Ths is a web server log file analysis tool. You can find the latest version on Hobbes.


VDMA version 0.9b beta has been released. This is a replacement for IBM's VDMA driver, which allows some games (Prince of Persia 2, Goblins 3, Sam'n Max) to work properly. Thanks to Martin Kiewitz for the news.


getaudiodir version 0.1 beta has been released (8/25/2002). This is a REXX utility that creates an index file of MPEG or Ogg-Vorbis audio files, which includes information about the artist, etc. Thanks to Klaus Staedtler for the news.


A couple of eStylerLite updates have been released (8/14/2002). estlrpatch version 1.0.0.40 solves problems with programs which changed push button style, and odin wrongly sending WM_PAINT to not visible windows. estlrshutdown offers command line shutdown, giving access to all the extended shutdown features, including APM management and executing programs at shutdown.


Jdictionary version 1.8 has been released (8/12/2002). This multi-platform dictionary program is plugin based; there is even a speech synthesizer plugin under development.


X-Commander 0.97 has been released. This is a file manager, modeled after Norton Commander.


Poor Man's Roaming Access (PMRA) version 0.5 has been released (8/11/2002). This program extends the roaming access feature beyond Netscape 4.x to Warpzilla, the IBM web browser, and other versions of Netscape. It allows the sharing of bookmark (or other) files from multiple computers, or from multiple operating systems on a single computer, using FTP. From VOICE News.


Sokrates version 1.73 has been released (8/8/2002). This is a Java servlet runner for Xitami.


mad version 0.14.2b has been ported to OS/2 (8/3/2002). MAD is a high-quality MPEG audio decoder. It currently supports MPEG-1 and the MPEG-2 extension to Lower Sampling Frequencies, as well as the so-called MPEG 2.5 format. All three audio layers (Layer I, Layer II, and Layer III a.k.a. SNES9X, the Super Nintendo emulator, has been updated (8/2/2002) to release 13. It supports windowed graphics using DIVE, full screen graphics using MGL, stereo sound using DART, joystick support, NVRAM saving for saved games, capturing screenshots, and fast and accurate emulation. One of the Java Bomberman games has been updated (8/2/2002). This one is client/server, so it's multi-player only (but now has bot support).


WeaselFilter version 3.05 has been released (8/2/2002). This is a junk mail filter to go with the Weasel or ZXMail servers. Thanks to Michal Pohorelsky for the news.


Release 6 of the Dualmode graphics library capable of seamlessly toggling between a full screen graphics session (using MGL) and DIVE windowed operation has been released (8/1/2002). There are two components: a server executable which manages the full screen session, and a library to be linked with your executable. This is used in SNES9x and MAME. IBM has released (8/1/2002) a package for extended partition support. This add supports for more partition types (0x0F and 0x0E), as used by various Windows products. Thanks to Klaus Staedtler for the news.


XShadow version 1.1.1 has been released (8/1/2002). This is a replacement for WPS shadows that allows shadow renaming and fixes the lock-in-place bug. Thanks to Michal Pohorelsky for the news.

IBM's Mozilla porting team has released (7/29/2002) fixes for VisualAge C++ 3.65, along with their older (10/11/2001) optimization fixes.


News Harvest, a program for grabbing Usenet binaries, has been updated to version 1.70. Highlights include: YEnc support, option to set process priority & bandwidth limit; moved looping and unattended operation to a configuration panel; replaced the Configuration window with a beautiful tabbed dialog; speed optimised UU-Decoding; and log entry for multipart articles. Rexx Scroller version 1.30 has been released (7/25/2002). This allows you to have an additional type of Rexx widgets on XWorkplace's XCenter.


Enhanced joystick drivers have been released (7/25/2002); there is an improved version of GAMEDD.SYS, and an older (7/24/2000) GAMEPRT driver.


Marvin's Retriever version 0.3.1 has been released (7/22/2002). This is a small graphical downloader like Netscape SmartDownload which can read URLs from the clipboard or a file or just have one typed in. It uses GNU wGet and has buttons to pause/resume, retry and retransfer downloads. It is an attempt to replace Netscape Navigator's unreliable 'Save File' Dialog. Antigen for Lotus Domino will have a new version released on August 1st which has substantial improvements, including the integration of the Norman AntiVirus version 5 engine. Meanwhile, there is a test version available. Thanks to Roland for the news.


Xmouse version 0.7 has been released (7/18/2002). This is intended to replace the mouse.sys driver as included in the scrollms.exe package. It adds support for the Intellimouse Explorer, Logitech MouseMan, Logitech M-BJ58 Optical scroll mouse, Logitech M-RG45 Cordless wheel mouse, Logitech Marble Fx Trackball, Primax CyberNavigator, and many others. It also enhances the detection fallback routine, in that it attempts to fallback as an intellimouse or intellimouse explorer before going down to a plain two buttons mouse, if the mouse seems to support one of those two protocols. JCalendar version 1.1.4 has been released (7/17/2002). This is a simple calendar written in Java, which requires Java 1.3 or higher.


Sticky/2 version 1.31 has been released (7/16/2002) as open source. It allows you to send Sticky Notes across a TCP/IP network. Thanks to Martin Iturbide for the news.


eCSPegged version 1.5 has been released (7/15/2002). This is a game similar to Pegged. Works with keyboard, mouse or speech commands.


JPEG io-procedure version 0.1.0 has been released (7/13/2002). This procedure is a drop in replacement for the JPEG procedure in MMOS/2. It supports base JPEG image files (as the IO procedure provided with MMOS/2), as well as progressive ones. Thanks to Klaus Staedtler for the news.


A script to convert the Mozilla builds from ZIP to WPI has been updated (7/8/2002) to version 1.2.11. With this script you can convert the zip (release or nightly) to the WarpIn WPI format.

There are now some tools on Hobbes for unpacking Windows archives in the WISE (6/30/2002) and InstallShield (7/17/2001) formats. These can be useful for extracting programs for use with Odin.


PMMine version 1.1 has been released. This is another clone of the Mine Sweeper game. Thanks to Yuri Epstein for the news.


Some plugins for PM123 have been released; Crossfader version 1.5 causes the current song to fade out while the new song fades in, and Time! version 1.2 (2/11/2002) allows you to turn off your computer after a certain time or a certain number of songs.


Sendmail version 8.12.3 has been ported (6/20/2002) to OS/2. This is an SMTP mail server, common in the Unix world.


The P6 / K7 MTRR management package has been updated (6/19/2002) to version 0.08a. This is a device driver that can manage MTRRs of Intel P6 / AMD K7 series processors. It includes VFBWC.exe, which uses MTRR write-combining for the video frame buffer; this can often improve graphic performance, especially DIVE (unless you are running SDD; in that case you don't need this).


A patch for the Sam'n Max CD-ROM Edition has been released, which allows it work under OS/2. Thanks to Martin Kiewitz for the news.


YADTV/2 version 2.1 has been released (6/16/2002). This version supports the use of the OS2ENDIVE hardware video accelerator driver for the display of the TV image, and there is a Media Control Device driver for MMOS2. YADTV/2 is a TV application for the Wincast/TV card.


Tyra/2, a GUI front-end for modifying the numerous config.sys settings, has been updated (6/15/2002) to version 1.91 patch 2.


AGSatellite/2 version 1.45 has been released (6/8/2002). This is a Audio Galaxy Satellite agent clone for OS/2.


HexMines version 1.0 has been released. This is a hexagonal Minesweeper clone. The text is in German, but it's easy to figure out.


Irman Daemon version 1.0 has been released (6/6/2002). This program allows you to use the Irman device with OS/2. The program is controlled through the built-in REXX support and is fully NLS enabled. Thanks to David van Enckevort for the news.

IBM Japan has released (6/5/2002) a new version of the Epson EPOMNI printer drivers, supporting the EPSON Stylus C60, C70, and C80. Epson is also investigating supporting newer models of the Photo printers. From VOICE News.


Subtitler version 1.2 has been released (6/4/2002). This shows subtitles while playing AVI files with WarpMedia or WarpVision.


MPEG2 version 1.05 has been released (6/2/2002). This is an MPEG 1/2 player.

A PMFormat replacement program has been released (5/26/2002). This is a PM program to format volumes with options, for use on LVM-enabled systems.


XComp/2 version 3.10 has been released (5/22/2002). This is a recursive file compare utility. It now includes ISOCOMP/2, for comparing ISO images. Thanks to Roman Stangl for the news.


CD Boot/2 version 2.00 has been released (5/22/2002). This is a utility to enhance bootable OS/2 CD-ROMs so that when the CD-ROM is inserted into the drive, a menu is displayed allowing you to continue booting from the removeable media, or timing out to the hard disk instead. HTTPTunnel version 0.3.3 has been ported (5/21/2002) to OS/2. This will tunnel any protocol (telnet, ftp, icq, etc.) through HTTP.

There are some alternative versions of GhostScript, one that has enhanced HP DeskJet support (5/12/2002), and one that adds XFree86 support (11/11/2001).


PMRobots 1.3 has been released (5/10/2002) as open source. This is a version of the classic UN*X game "robots" for OS/2. The main idea is that you are chased by robots, and the object to is make them crash into each other before they get you. Thanks to Martin Iturbide for the news.


Resin 2.1.0 has been ported (5/10/2002) to OS/2. It is not only a module to Apache, but a rather competent server itself, that supports Java beans, JSP, static HTML and more. You can find the OS/2 port on Hobbes.

JMSN version 0.9.7 has been released (4/18/2002). This is a Java clone of MSN Messenger. Thanks to Michele Della Guardia for the news.


Some Unix programs have been ported (4/13/2002) to XFree86/OS2, including htmldoc 1.8.19, an excellent tool for converting HTML files to PS or PDF; and tth 3.07, a LaTeX to HTML translator. Thanks to Martin R. Hadam for the news.


Desproxy version 0.019 has been ported (4/13/2002) to OS/2. This is an http tunnelling program that can be used, for example, to connect to an irc server behind an http/proxy firewall. See the Desproxy page for more information. Thanks to Massimo for the news.

Inkjet utils version 0.40 has been released (4/12/2002). It can be used to clean and align the printer heads on Epson and some HP inkjet printers.


DeleGate 7.9.2 for OS/2 has been released (3/26/2002). It is a multi-purpose application level gateway, or a proxy server which runs on multiple platforms. It mediates communication of various protocols (HTTP, FTP, NNTP, POP, Telnet, etc.), applying cache and conversion for mediated data, controlling access from clients and routing toward servers. It translates protocols between clients and servers, merging several servers into a single server view with aliasing and filtering.

DialUp, an interface to InJoy or the AT&T dialer that works like LINKUP.EXE for DOIP is now (3/22/2002) on version 1.35.


Sit-O-CHIRARI version 0.05d has been released (3/20/2002). This is a desktop accessory with POP3 mail checking. A small Japanimation girl will sit upon the current active window.


Psion OS/2 utilities version 1.51, some text mode ftp-like utilities for the Psion handhelds, has been released (3/17/2002). There is now a NetDrive plugin available also.

rsched version 1.6a4 has been released (3/14/2002). This is a full featured VIO scheduler that can control processes; you can start or kill programs on certain flags.


Lexmark has updated the OS/2 printer drivers for their laserjets to version 2.720 (3/12/2002). From OS2 World.


LAN Server FixPak IP08605 has been released (3/8/2002). This probably applies to WSEB, ACP1, and ACP2.


IBM has released (3/7/2002) a SCSI Geometry Filter driver. This is to resolve problems with LVM and removable media. Thanks to Klaus Staedtler for the news.


There is a new libemx test package available (3/5/2002). This is an archive of headers and libraries required for emx/gcc. It's essentially the same thing as you get in the EMX archives, but has Fix04 applied along with long filename conversion and inclusion of .lib as well as .a files. Squid redirector version 0.12 has been released (3/4/2002). This "simple intellectual redirector for Squid" has easy operation and addition redirect rules, rules for banners and counters, blacklist for porn sites, and more.


MMPMTool version 0.1 has been released. This utility allows you to view and modify the MMPMMMIO.INI entries. Thanks to Klaus Staedtler for the news.


Normalizer plugin version 0.2 for PM123 has been released (2/27/2002). It recalculates sample data to keep the volume of the sound output at an equal level.


LFNCall version 1.8 has been released. This allows you to use files with long names in WinOS/2.


LNK2WPS version 0.02 has been released (2/23/2002). This tool creates WPS objects from MS-Windows .LNK files.


A utility to disable TV Out at bootup for SDD has been released (2/22/2002).


WebCam/2 version 1.0 has been released (2/19/2002). This is an image capture utility for Fast Movie Machine II and Win-TV cards. It creates timed snapshots from the VideoIn device,and can be used to set up a webcam.


mo640 version 1.0 has been released. This allows you to share MOs (FAT-Superfloppy) with more than 512bps with other operating systems. It is designed to be used with N512DASD.FLT.


OS/2 Doom version 1.10 was released a while back (2/16/2002). This port features sound and music, network game support, large resolutions, and a GUI configuration tool. Thanks to [stom] for the news.


Text Converter version 0.92 has been released (2/9/2002). This program converts text files between various platforms and code pages. Supported are code pages used on DOS, OS/2, Internet/Unix, Macintosh, and Windows. Several languages are supported. Thanks to Goran Ivankovic for the news.


The sound drivers for Crystal CS4614, CS4624 and CS4280 chips have been updated (2/7/2002) to version 3.11. Also available is IBM's release (8/16/2001) of version 3.10 of the driver, and the older (7/13/2000) drivers from Cirrus Logic for all of their Crystal Sound chips. Sound cards which use the various chips (including the PCI ones) can be found on Timur Tabi's Crystal OS/2 page.

Video drivers for the Trio 3D chipsets, version 4.10.10, and for the Neomagic 128/256 chipsets, version 4.28.11, are available (2/4/2002).


Some replacement DLLs for Object Desktop 2.0 Archive Viewers with prettier icons has been released (2/3/2002).


Michal Necasek has created (1/30/2002) ColorWorks patches that allow it to work properly with GRADD drivers (including SDD). It fixes the black effects previews, as well as lockups in effects dialogs.


Theseus/2 version 4.001 has been released (1/29/2002), for compatibility with the Convenience Paks. Previously released (6/28/2001) was Theseus version 3.003, which works on Warp 3, FixPak 38 or later, Warp 4 at any FixPak level, including WSOD, and the e-Business Server. Theseus/2 is a program for monitoring how much RAM certain applications use, and it's really good for finding memory leaks. From VOICE News.

Terminal.Telnet version 0.9.1 has been released (1/23/2002). This is a utility to get a remote control console via serial port / serial modem.

Some Unix programs have been ported (1/12/2002) to XFree86/OS2, including FreeCiv 1.12.0, the free Civilization game; rayshade 4.0.6, a raytracing package; fltk 1.1.x beta, the Fast Light Tool Kit GUI library; and NEdit 5.2, a user-friendly editor. Thanks to Christian Hennecke for the news.


Carsten Mueller has released (1/10/2002) PM-Euro version 1.75. PM-Euro is an OS/2 currency calculator, which loads the actual currency exchange rates for US-Dollars, Canadian Dollars, Australian Dollars, UK Pounds, Japanese Yen and Swiss Francs within a few seconds from the internet.


Some IRC bouncers, including PSY BNC, have been ported (1/9/2002) to OS/2. Thanks to Massimo Sangriso for the news.


JBuilder5 personal edition has been packaged (1/4/2002) for OS/2. It requires Java 1.3. From VOICE News.


ConfigMaint/2 version 1.05 has been released (1/1/2002). ConfigMaint is a very useful config.sys Analyzer / Editor. The data files are now at the same level as the ones in Configtool, and can also be used with ConfigEdit 1.6 or above. There is also a new version of this program expected in the near future.
