DOSIdle version 1.4 has been released (12/25/2005). This improves performance when using legacy CA-Clipper based applications that tend to use 100% CPU load under OS/2. Thanks to Sander Nyman for the info.

Ispell version 3.3.02 has been ported (12/24/2005) to OS/2. Ispell is a fast screen-oriented spelling checker that shows you your errors in the context of the original file, and suggests possible corrections when it can figure them out. It can also handle languages other than English.

PMMIncoming version 2.02 for PMMail/2 has been released (12/20/2005). This REXX script manipulates malformed emails so that they will be correctly handled by PMMail/2. Also available is a script for integrating PMMail with Mozilla. Thanks to Axel Hagedorn for the info.

Harddisk Manager version 1.1.5 has been released (12/17/2005). This is a replacement for IBM's LVMGUI, which requires Java 1.3 or later. It features a Swing interface, Fat32 and ext2/3 support, and more.

Drivers for the National Semiconductor network chipsets have been updated; the DP83820 driver is at version 1.09 (12/24/2005), and the DP83815 driver is at version 1.07 (12/17/2005).

NIC drivers for various VIA Rhine network chipsets have been released (12/17/2005): version 1.06 for the VT6102, version 1.04 for the VT6105, and version 1.04 for the VT86C100A.

There are updated (12/17/2005) NIC drivers available. The ADMtek AL981 driver is at version 1.03, the VIA Velocity VT612x driver is at version 1.05, and the Tamarack TC9021 driver is at version 1.10.

Slash'EM version 0.0.7e7f2 has been released (12/4/2005). This is a Nethack variant (similar to the old Rogue game). There are both X11 and console versions.

HTML Tidy has been ported (12/3/2005) to OS/2. This checks and repairs HTML and XHTML in conformance with current W3C standards. You can find the OS/2 version on Hobbes.

zmuzic version 0.9b has been released (12/1/2005). This is a PM front end for the z! mp3 player.

IBM has updated (11/29/2005) the IDEDASD drivers, which includes updated OS2DASD.DMD, OS2CDROM.DMD, IBM1FLPY.ADD, and of course the IDE support (IBM1S506 and IBMATAPI). The latest version requires a Passport Advantage subscription or access to eCS updates; there is still an older free version available. From OS2World.

NTP version 4.2.0 has been ported (11/24/2005) to OS/2. This is used to synchronize the time with a reference time source.

CBIRC version 1.12 has been released (11/22/2005). This is a Java IRC client with features that include color, web links, DCC, and more.

Qt version 3.3.1 RC 6 has been ported (11/22/2005) to OS/2. Qt is a C++ graphics toolkit; the KDE desktop environment is based on it. From OS2.org.

antiword version 0.37 has been ported (11/19/2005) to OS/2. There's another port of the same version on Hobbes. This program converts Word documents to text and postscript. Thanks to Paul Smedley for the news.

ZxMail Server version 1.2.19 has been released (11/16/2005). This is a POP3 and SMTP server that allows REXX filters, sharing of external POP3 accounts with server users, mail fowarding, multi domain support, allows using a relay SMTP server to minimize bandwidth usage, and more. There is now special academic pricing for students; you can get a basic 10 user license is $10, $25 off the regular price, if you contact the author. There is also a free 2 users license available now.

Norman Virus Control version 5.8 has been released (11/7/2005). This anti-virus program has WPS integration, on-access scanning, and more. Detailed information is available in the Release Notes.

Innotek has released (11/4/2005) an update for the ipluginw package. GCC versions of Mozilla require this in order to use Java and the scripting features of Flash. It is listed as being from September 15th, since that is when it was first made available elsewhere (it has been on the Warpzilla Tips page for weeks).

JFDraw version 1.8.0 has been released (10/27/2005). This is a Java-based graphics application, with graph routines for complex vector graphs. You can use it to create mechanical, electronic, or architectural graphs, or business process or workflow graphs.

WPS Dump version 0.1 has been released (10/20/2005). This is a backup tool for the WPS desktop, with the ability to restore only a partial desktop. It is released under the GPL license. Thanks to Yuri Dario for the info.

PCI+AGP bus sniffer version 1.04 has been released (10/13/2005). This tool shows PCI, AGP and CardBus device information, has a huge database of known vendors and devices,and can tell what IRQs are supported by which slot.

IBM has updated (10/10/2005) the USB printer driver. This driver supports USB printers, as well as provides support for parallel printers attached to the system by means of USB Parallel Convertor cables. You need a Software Choice subscription or access to eCS updates to get this. From VOICE News.

Paul Ratcliffe has released (10/9/2005) aspirout.sys version 1.1 beta 10, which is needed for programs that access SCSI (or emulated SCSI for IDE) at an application level, such as SANE and some CD recording utilities.

Linky version 2.7.1 has been released (10/5/2005). This is an add-on for Mozilla that adds extra link-related items to the menu, allowing you to perform tasks such as opening all links on a page in new tabs or copying selected links to the clipboard.

WorkPlaceCalendar version 0.8 has been released. This creates a calendar object on your desktop, which shows the date and a monthly calendar. It supports German and English, and you can see a screenshot. From VOICE News.

INADYN version 1.96 has been ported (9/19/2005) to OS/2. This is a dynamic DNS client, with support for dyndns.org, freedns.afraid.org, zoneedit.com, and no-ip.com.

Columba version 1.0 has been released (9/18/2005). This is a free, open-source Java email client, with support for POP3 and IMAP. It reportedly works with Innotek Java 1.4.2, but not Golden Code Java 1.4.1. Thanks to Isaac Leung for the info.

Pilot Link version 0.12.0 pre4-b2 has been ported (9/12/2005) to OS/2. This is a suite of tools used to connect to your Palm or PalmOS compatible handheld.

CDRWSEL version 4 beta 2a has been released (9/5/2005). This is a GUI progam to attach multiple CDRW at the same time, using RSJ CD Writer. It can also now function as a frontend to DVDDAO. From VOICE News.

CoolFM version 2.17 has been released. This is a powerful FM radio tuner control program, compatible with most popular FM tuners, including several USB models.

SuperVersion version 2.0 beta 8 has been released (8/18/2005). This is a multi-user distributed version control system based on change sets. This Java program features a graphical user interface, branches, and conflict detection and resolution, a history tree view, export and report functions, CVS-compatible keyword substitution, overridable file type autodetection, and a transactional internal database.

IconPainter is a shareware icon editor, which requires Java. Note that it does not support the OS/2 native icon format.

GIMP version 2.2.8 has been released (8/4/2005) for XFree86/OS2. The GNU Image Manipulation Program is similar in function to PhotoShop. In addition to XFree86/OS2, it requires EMX and several other ported Unix libraries, which are all available on Hobbes.

BlackSheep version 0.67 has been released (8/4/2005). This is a Java Address Book that requires Java 1.4.

Some command line MP3 utilities have been ported (7/30/2005) to OS/2, including MP3Splt version 2.1, MP3Wrap version 0.5, and MP3Gain version 1.46. These can be used to split MP3 files, combine them, and adjust their volume, respectively.

libusb version 0.1.10a has been released (7/30/2005). This is a library to enable applications to communicate with USB devices.

jWPS version 0.0.1 alpha has been released (7/29/2005). This is a set of Java classes for working with the WPS and EAs. Included is a sample program that manipulates EAs in Java.

PMDisk version 1.12 has been released (7/28/2005). This is a binary File and Disk editor.

Stella Vision version 1.60-775 has been released (7/27/2005). This is apparently some kind of CAD/CAM system. Thanks to Sassy for the info.

PMExif version 0.93 has been released (7/23/2005). This is a GUI application which produces a list of Exif data for a whole directory of images, based on the RxExif.dll.

A NIC driver for the Marvell Yukon 88E8001/8003/8010 Gigabit Ethernet chipsets has been released (7/23/2005).

A driver for the SIS 900 network chipset, version 1.03 has been released (7/23/2005).

Ramtest version 0.4a has been released (7/18/2005). This memory test utility can be used for burning in memory and stress testing your system. The source code is included.

AE version 1.9.8 has been released (7/17/2005). This is a replacement for E.EXE that fixes most of the annoying things about it.

A UniAudio Mixer has been updated (7/6/2005). This is a PM sound mixer for the UniAudio drivers. For some reason, it is only effective while it is running.

CcDoc version 0.8r41 has been ported (7/5/2005) to OS/2. CcDoc is a javadoc like tool that automatically generates web documentation from C++ programs by parsing the source file headers.

DLURLEA has been updated (7/3/2005). This program adds the download URL to the extended attributes of files you download with Mozilla.

Sunny Pills version 1.2 fix1 has been released (7/1/2005); this is part of the sNOa Game Pack. This is a puzzle game, where you swap adjacent pills to make sets of 3, 4 or 5. The fix for version 1.2 can be found on Hobbes.

PyOpenOffice version 0.4 has been released. This will convert OpenOffice.org Writer files to PDF, without needing OpenOffice.org installed. It requires Python 2.3, and can do a few other manipulations on OpenOffice.org files.

MPEG audio utility version 0.28 has been released (6/19/2005). This utility analyzes all the frames of MPEG audio files, allowing you to manipulate them, such as removing leading and trailing silence.

A hard disk image converter has been updated (6/13/2005). This will convert between DFSee, SVISTA, and Virtual PC images.

Tyrant version 0.334 has been released (6/12/2005). This is a graphical Rogue-like fantasy adventure game, written in Java. You can also play online.

RBLcheck version 2.3 has been released (6/9/2005). This program helps filter spam by checking incoming messages against real-time blacklists. Also available is POPprxy, a POP3 proxy daemon which runs RBLcheck for each message that passes through it; this enables you to use RBLcheck regardless of mail client. wxTask beta 4 has been released (5/25/2005). This XCenter plugin for switching and killing tasks is modeled after the one in WarpCenter.

David Graser has released several animated mouse pointers, including a collection of country flags and one of animated lights. They all require the Animated Mouse Pointer replacement class by Christian Langanke.

jfig version 3 has been released (5/13/2005). This is a graphics or diagram editor written in Java. It offers all typical drawing primitives including bezier splines, each with attributes like colors, line and fill styles, etc. The user interface of jfig aims to be compatible with "xfig", the de-facto standard graphics editor on Unix and Linux workstations.

This INF document describes how to configure and use the powerful built-in firewall feature with support for IP packet filtering and IPSec VPN tunnels that have been included in TCP/IP v4.1 and above.

unrar version 3.4.3 has been ported (2/21/2005) to OS/2. This tool for extracting RAR archives has >=2Gb file support and no EMX dependency, and includes the source code.

Marty Amodeo has updated his enhanced MMOS2 PLAY.CMD. It should do a better job of freeing up resources, and additionally supports a play list, with optional randomization.

IBM has released (2/14/2005) a build of SNAP Graphics/se for the ThinkPad T43, which has PCI Express Mobility Radeon graphics chipsets.

Analog Devices AD188x (SoundMax) OS/2 audio driver version 3.1.9 has been released (2/14/2005) by IBM.

Micropress, Inc has updated (2/9/2005) VTeX/2, the free OS/2 port of the TeX-to-pdf compiler VTeX, and is now based on v8.44.2 of the TeX-PDF compiler. VTeX is a TeX program, which generates PDF or PostScript output from TeX source files. It comes with a complete ready-to-run LaTeX system, many additional macro packages and fonts, and the BibTeX and MakeIndex programs. From os2.jp.

F version 4.79 beta has been released (2/7/2005). F is a freeware text-mode configurable file manager, with an FTP/FXP client, an editor with syntax-highlighting, numerous tools for developers, simple e-mail and news clients, as well as small HTTP and FTP servers.

xPuTTY version 0.56 has been ported (1/26/2005) to XFree86/OS2. This is a graphical telnet/ssh client.

IBM has updated (1/18/2005) the ThinkPad Infrared Stack. You need a Passport Advantage subscription or access to eCS updates to get this. There is also an older (10/30/2002) version that may support more hardware on Hobbes. These allow for printing, communicating with a cell phone, and LAN access using IrDA. From OS2World.

os2unix version 2.2 has been released (1/16/2005). With this tool, you can easily compile software for OS/2 from Linux source code, without needing autoconf. From OS2.jp.

There is a tool named PMM2TB to convert PMMail messages and address books to a format Thunderbird (and Mozilla) can import.

KVEC version 3.19 has been released. This is a tool which can vectorize images using several graphic formats (BMP, Windows Metafile, Enhanced Metafile, AutoCad DXF, HPGL, ART).

Contact/2 version 1.31 has been released. This is an address book program with interfaces to other programs; web browsers and email clients can be integrated. It is now freeware for home and nonprofit use. If you want to use it in a commercial environment, you should contact the author via email to get information on how to purchase a valid license.
